After many years of countless battles and wars, the planet that we had once affectionately called "Earth" decided to reborn itself: to start a new beginning.
During the earth's metamorphosis, many people have died. Children, parents, lovers, families.... sinners, the hated, and greedy people. Everyone's lives were wiped away from the surface of the planet.
But in order for the earth to continue living, it needed life. Life of animals, plants, and insects. The earth could have erased human life permanently, but it decided to forgive us one last time, and let us live on this planet once more. It was truly a miracle. For every miracle, there's a price. And the price is death.
The earth decided not to create us the way it did before. It made sure that it didn't make that same mistake again. Some of us were born with magical powers, and some were born with a strong connection to the spirit world. Some people were born with the power to transmorph themselves into an animal. Whatever it did to us... we weren't like what we were in the past.
We called it a "gift from Earth". People believed that the earth has given us these to protect it. Some used it for good, but there were still hearts tainted with greed and evil. It was our job to stop whatever would hurt the earth. It was our job to protect.
There were different animals too. There were animals as tiny as a snowflake, and ones that were larger than the islands that floated above. Monsters were hidden and slumbering in the deep oceans below, and monsters that lived on forbidden islands and territories.
Though we are not sure what the past was like before, we have gained more knowledge. There are islands that float happily in the sky, and using our magic, we were able to successfully create flying ships.
Over time, the priests have told us a myth about twelve jewels that gave elemental powers to whoever the possesser is. Most people threw it off as "just a myth". The rest, however, began to search for these rare jewels. The people who searched for those jewels were usually people that wasn't gifted with magic, but wished to.
